Hey sweet peas
I hope you’ve all had an amazing week, and having a great Sunday/Saturday 🙂
You might’ve noticed my recent absence from my blog, a lot more than usual, and today I wanted to explain why. I’ve been hesitant to do so, because as I always say I only want to put positive posts on my blog, and ones I am proud of, so I knew I needed to wait until I could do that about this topic.
So, I’ve been having panic attacks. I don’t know if they are worse than they were in years previous, or if its just that I know what they are now, but I’ve definitely allowed them to rule my life. And I am quite determined to not let that continue on.
So, what is a panic attack? It comes in many shapes and forms, but mostly its just a reaction to thinking that the situation you are in could harm you, so your body goes into lockdown and you can’t really control it. For me, I have someone at school who isn’t being especially nice to me, but that’s really all the detail I want to give because I don’t want to start gossiping to you lot 🙂 Apparently for women, more often than not its pent up anger that we don’t know how to express so we have panic attacks when we get too full. Just remember though, that there is nothing wrong with you if you have one. You shouldn’t be ashamed of having panic attacks, and there are definitely ways to combat them.
Techniques for combatting a panic attack:
- Find someone you trust. One day I was having the beginnings of one, so I ran and found my amazing friend who does German with me, and just told her I was having the beginning of one. She gave me a hug, and calmed me down, and kept emailing me during class to make sure I was okay. Love her so much haha 😀 Another time I was having the loss of breath I have before I get one, so one of my close friends took me outside of where we were, and just talked to me soothingly, and we managed to get me out of it. She’s an angel, I swear <3
- Talk to someone about them. I tell my mum straight away when I have one, especially since I had one on the way to school, so she took me home and made sure I was ok. She’s talked to me about them, and we’ve thought of ways to deal with them. When I had the worst one at school (that I did mention in a post) I asked my really close friends to text my mum and tell her what had happened. It always makes me feel a little better knowing my mum knows, and that she’s going to help me.
- Breathing. Sometimes you might find yourself going into one, so its helpful to focus on breathing calmly and slowly. If need be, ask to go outside, and just breathe for a while. Walking around calmly helps too, and helps you focus.
- Knowing your limits. Sometimes you need to take the day off and rest, but you also need to get out there and do things. Don’t let your panic attacks run your life, and prevent you from doing things you love. Easier said than done, I know, but take one step at a time, and just remember the things you love. I check my blog pretty much everyday, and when I see a new comment pop up I feel a little better knowing you guys are out there 🙂

I really hope you can combat them, and remember all the good things that you love in life. No one deserves to have to deal with panic attacks, and I can honestly say that you lot are some of the strongest and kindest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing, so you all have the ability to overcome them 🙂
