What Is A Healthy Weight?

What Is A Healthy Weight?

Hey sweet peas! šŸ™‚

So recently in a couple of classes at school we were talking about prejudices and difference in society, and we kind of got onto the topics of accepting difference, and I guess in some round-about way it got me thinking about how a lot of people have an unhealthy image of themselves. And for all of you who are teenagers, or have been, you’ll know that one of the most pressing issues around weight are eating disorders.

I get really concerned when people say things to me like “I need to lose weight” “I’m fat” or actually when they say something like “I lost *insert amount*. Don’t I look good?”. My answer: “You looked good before. You look beautiful no matter what”. I know a few people who have struggled with suppression of food, or having an unhealthy image of their weight. namely they are probably every single person I have ever met. its true: I think everyone has those moments, and probably more often than is good for us.

I admit, its good to reflect on yourself, and to care about looking good, but feeling good comes into that too. and I don’t know about you but feeling hungry is just never fun. when I am hungry I just get emotional, and I fade. I like me when I have eaten enough, exercised enough, slept enough, and appreciate how I look.

You don’t need to look a certain way. Your waist doesn’t have to be a certain width, your boobs don’t need to be a certain cup size, and your hips don’t have be small enough to get your hands around. for all you women out there: whether you want to or not your body was made to hold and create a baby; this means that yes you will have some fat on your tummy, your thighs, your hips will be wider than a mans, and you will have more fat too. but instead of framing this up as a bad thing, can’t we see that the design of our bodies in itself is beautiful? How cool is it that we are designed to support and create life, whether we choose to or not?

You are beautiful. Love your body. Love yourself. Because this is the only one you’re getting, and to be honest I think you should make the most of it šŸ™‚ <3

If you do have a body image issue, remember that pretty much everyone else is in the same boat. But also that you are allowed to feel good about yourself.

Eat well. Exercise healthily. Drink water, get sleep, do things you love. Love yourself.

I hope you’re all having a great weekend, and thank you again for all your love in my lost past <3 If you’d like me to write a post about tips in regards to this topic, or any post suggestions I’d love to hear them šŸ™‚

I love this post so much! I struggled with my weight when I was younger and used to be quite underweight actually. But I slowly learnt how to live with my body as it is. It’s hard to accept yourself and I think everyone goes through it but when you have, then it’s amazing! xxxx

Yess I couldn’t agree more with this! I feel like the ultimate aim of healthy eating and exercise should be health rather than a certain weight..Plus. weight says very little about your health- someone who exercises a lot may weight more than the average person because muscle weighs more than fat, but may at the same time be healthier. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! <3
