Hello everyone! 🙂
In my last post I mentioned that I got back from overseas last month, and I am very very excited to share with you where I went!! 😀 It was a school trip that we’d been preparing for, for about a year and a half so it was pretty incredible to actually get there!! For the trip we went to various parts of Greece and Italy that are relevant to the Classical World – because it was a Classics trip (ancient Greece and Rome!) 🙂 So today I will start with the first stop on the tour: Athens.
I really didn’t know what to expect in Athens. I’d heard a few people say that it was dirty, or just not particularly nice to be in…
…I Love Athens. Haha okay so yes I was very impressed with Athens, and had an amazing time; and I definitely want to go back! It is a pretty surreal experience standing on the hotel roof-garden just staring at the Acropolis, with the Parthenon all lit up… I would 100% recommend that! 😉
I was convinced Athens was tiny at first, but when you get a view of the city from the Acropolis itself you realise that it is actually huge! I think that it truly was just that wherever you go it is so interesting, and very different to what I’m used to!
We spent three days/ two nights in Athens, and while we were there we visited: The Ancient Acropolis, antiquities museum, Olympic stadium, and other various places along the way. Even though that list isn’t very long, just being in the city is an experience in itself. Plus, food and other touristy needs are pretty cheap and affordable which was a nice change from my experience of Australia and Italy! I think next time I would like to be able to speak the language a bit, because when we tried the Greeks seemed really amused and I imagine appreciated us trying to make an effort!
I can’t wait to share the other places I went in future posts!! 😀
I would love to hear if you have been to Athens, or Greece, or if you want to go there one day? I’d love to hear your thoughts! 😀
