Following on from my recent travel posts I thought today I would talk about another of my favourite places I travelled to in April 😀
You mayn’t have heard of the gorgeous wee seaside town of Nafplio, but it is a popular escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life for many mainlander Greeks (particularly Athenians), and an impressive and welcoming, peaceful town to stop in if you are exploring Europe and Greece. It truly is one of the most picturesque places I have ever been, and even had an ancient castle up on the hillside, just to add to the impressiveness. Although I must say I have no idea how they managed to get up there! It’s literally on the hill-face.
I stayed here for a day and a night, and I really wish I could’ve spent longer there! It was the one time I have ever bought an “I <3” t-shirt, with a tell-tale “I <3 Nafplio” on it! Unfortunately for the English speaking market they had changed it to the more common-place Naplio, used amongst English speakers – not that I am in anyway claiming that I speak Greek; sadly I don’t! ☹ I would love to be able to though, because the people we tried our abysmal Greek out on were so welcoming and kind about it! 🙂
I would 100% recommend visiting Nafplio if you ever get the chance – especially if you are going to Athens anyway 🙂
I would love to hear your thoughts! Have you ever been to Greece? Would you like to one day? I’d love to know!
Until next time,
Lui Maria xx
