The 12th of July marked two years of blogging for me here on Lui Maria, (you can read my post here) so I thought I’d talk about what I have learnt over my two years – because honestly I am constantly learning! 😉 (I also wrote about this after one year).
- It not the numbers that count. I wrote this as point number one last year too, and any blogger will say the same, even if it is a little harder to remember! But honestly it is important to remember that as with anything there are slumps and peaks, and that you just have to keep going no matter what! A peak is always behind a trough, and so long as you are enjoying yourself and getting something out of it then keep going! 🙂
- Find your writing voice. After a while you start to find your voice, and sometimes it can be easy to write in a formulated way; but the best writing always comes when you use your own personal voice, no matter what that is. I know I am often hesitant to fully communicate the subversive or sassy tones I would use in personal writing, but I try to portray it here as much as I can haha! 😀
- Don’t be afraid to adapt. I think it is really important to know that over time your blog, your style, and you yourself, will change, and to remember that it’s okays to reflect that on your blog. The YouTuber Louise Pentland changed her style a lot around 2016/2017, which I think she thought might’ve caused some upset; truly, I was just impressed with the new style. It makes sense for it to change; I mean 15 year-old me was similar yet very different to who I am now. I have adapted and changed my visual style, writing style, and really just adapted my blog to who I am now.
So that’s the long and short of it, and it is definitely not a definitive list, but those are the ones that came instantly to mind 😀
I would love to hear what you have noticed changing in your blog or other blogs, and if you are a new blogger what you have already noticed! 😀
Until next time,
