Hi all! It’s that time of the month again when I update you on the month past… and when I freak out about how quick this year is going! How is it already October? I only have just over two weeks of classes left, forever, which is absolutely mental to me! 😀
September was a month of highs and lows, mentally and otherwise, with some absolutely awesome moments at school, or with my friends and family (more the latter to be honest haha!), as well as some moments are serious reflection.
We had a year 13 retreat (which I mentioned in this post) which I enjoyed a lot more than I thought (given that I dreaded going to it haha!), and had such a cool time with some awesome people. This included, walking up a hill in the dark at about 10pm, just because we could! I love doing crazy spontaneous things like that, where you decide to do something just for the sake of it! Leaving school is certainly a mix of emotions, and the retreat was a great way of wrapping up the year, and high school experience.
Following retreat we are now allowed to wear mufti to school (which I know for a lot of you is just a given!), which I have mixed feelings about. Wearing a uniform means you don’t have to think too hard about what you’re wearing, and there are no real confidence issues because everyone is wearing the same thing. With no uniform, I have to start thinking about my outfits, how I’ll do my hair, what earrings, shoes, etc. Which is crazy, because before I was never afraid to wear the same thing all the time, because we had to. In saying that, I generally just wear dungarees anyway, and just change the top! Plus I’ve started utilising earrings a lot more.
One of my goals for this year was to get out a lot more, go more places, hang out with my friends more. As part of that my brother and I have started exploring our region a lot more, going places on Banks Peninsula and the Port Hills a lot. It is honestly such a cool part of the coutnry, and totally worth checking out! I have also started hanging out with my friends a lot more outside of school, or after school. Going to movies, getting food, even if it’s just in their lunch break (for those that work), or to help them buy something, any time is good time. I definitely feel a lot better when I see my friends more often, especially ones I haven’t seen for a while. As I’m leaving school I’ve started looking at what friendships I reckon will last outside of school, and I feel really good socially at the moment which is great. 😀
Applications for scholarships, accommodation, and certain courses closed in September, and so the waiting game begins! I’m still not certain whether I want to take a gap year first or not… I’ve gone back to being very confused and uncertain about what I’m doing next year. Luckily, I have options, and whichever way I go there will be heaps to learn and do. It’s really cool being on the beginning of a new chapter yet to be explored in life.
September also made me remember why I have always loved Spring, which was nice because after having two winters and a beautiful autumn, I’d been feeling a bit negative about Spring and Summer, which I often find too hot. Well, now I am just feeling so excited for what’s to come, holidays to take, work to do, beaches to visit, clothes to wear, and a tan to pretend I have! Plus I am so pumped for Christmas already!
I’m on my holidays again, and I’m loving being able to read a bit before I get up in the morning and before I go to sleep! I think I’ll do a holiday reading list post soon 😀
How was your September? What did you get up to? Which season are you in? I’d love to hear an update of your life! 😀
Until next time,
